Introduction:
NSNP consists of the following streams: Skilled Worker Stream, Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry, Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry, Entrepreneur, International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream and Physician.
Skilled Worker Stream Criteria:
- Have an indeterminate, full-time job offer from a Nova Scotia employer
- Have 1 year of work experience related to the job in the past five years
- Be 21 to 55 years old
- Have a high school diploma
- Have the appropriate training, skills and/or accreditation for the job
- prove language ability equal to CLB Level 5 for NOC 0, A, B jobs. CLB 4 for NOC C or D jobs and Semi-skilled and low-skilled workers
- Have enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Criteria (Category A):
- Have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system
- score 67 points or more on the stream’s six selection factors
- have a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer for full-time skilled work that lasts at least one year after your permanent resident visa is issued.
- have 1 year of skilled work experience related to the job in the past 6 years
- have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
- prove language ability in English or French at CLB 7;
- show enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Criteria (Category B) (Closed):
- be in one of the target occupations as identified in the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry guide. Please see the following list of target occupations, and this list is subject to change.
- have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system
- score 67 points or more on the stream’s six selection factors
- have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in one of our target occupations
- have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
- prove language ability in English or French at CLB 7
- show enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry Criteria:
- have at least 1 year of work experience in Nova Scotia in the past three years
- be 21 to 55 years old
- have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
- prove language ability in English or French at CLB 7 for NOC 0, A jobs or CLB5 for NOC B jobs
- have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Criteria:
- Receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) in their Express Entry profile
- Demonstrate that they meet the work experience requirements for their Express Entry class
- Show sufficient settlement funds to successfully settle in Nova Scotia alone or with accompanying family members
- Have legal status in their country of residence when applying for the stream
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities for Physicians Criteria:
- Receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) in their Express Entry profile
- Have an approved job offer from the Nova Scotia Health Authority or IWK Health Centre as either a general practitioner and family physician or a specialist physician (NOC 3112 or NOC 3111)
- Demonstrate that they meet the work experience requirements for their Express Entry class
- Show sufficient settlement funds to successfully settle in Nova Scotia alone or with accompanying family members
- Have legal status in their country of residence when applying for the stream
Nova Scotia Occupation in Demand Stream(Three-year pilot introduced in May 2019):
The stream is currently open to eligible candidates with a full-time permanent job offer from a NS employer in the following two occupations:
- NOC 3413 Nurses aides, orderlies and patient service associates
- NOC 7511 Transport truck drivers
Nova Scotia Occupation in Demand Stream Criteria:
- A full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in the following two occupations (NOC3413 or NOC 7511)
- One year of work experience related to the job in the past five years
- Be 21 to 55 years old
- A high school diploma
- Appropriate training, skills and/or accreditation for the job
- Minimum CLB 4
- Sufficient financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia.
Entrepreneur Criteria:
- be 21 years of age or older
- want to live permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a Nova Scotia business
- have a net worth of at least $600,000 CAD
- be able to invest at least $150,000 CAD of your own money to establish a business in Nova Scotia
- have at least 3 years’ experience actively managing and owning a business (1/3 ownership minimum) OR more than 5 years’ experience in a senior business management role in the past 10 years
- have a score of at least 5 on the CLB
- Must have a high school diploma
- Have a Business Plan
International Graduate Entrepreneur Criteria:
- want to live permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a Nova Scotia business
- have at least one year’s continuous experience actively managing and owning your current Nova Scotia business (100% ownership minimum)
- have completed a degree or diploma after at least 2 academic years of full-time, in-person study at a university in Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia Community College
- Have resided in Nova Scotia full-time during the academic program
- Have a valid post-graduation work permit
- Own 33.33% of the equity of the eligible business and provide active and ongoing participation in the daily management and direction of the business
- Have a score of at least 7 on the CLB
Physician Criteria:
- General practitioners, family physicians, and specialist physicians hired by Nova Scotia Health Authority and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre may apply with the employment letter
- Provide a copy of an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) or show proof of education and medical training required for licensure in Nova Scotia
- The ability to perform the job in one of Canada’s official languages as evidenced by an employment offer from the NSHA or the IWK.
