Immigration Provincial Nominee Program
Introduction:

NSNP consists of the following streams: Skilled Worker Stream, Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry, Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry, Entrepreneur, International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream and Physician.

Skilled Worker Stream Criteria:
  1. Have an indeterminate, full-time job offer from a Nova Scotia employer
  2. Have 1 year of work experience related to the job in the past five years
  3. Be 21 to 55 years old
  4. Have a high school diploma
  5. Have the appropriate training, skills and/or accreditation for the job
  6. prove language ability equal to CLB Level 5 for NOC 0, A, B jobs.  CLB 4 for NOC C or D jobs and Semi-skilled and low-skilled workers
  7. Have enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Criteria (Category A):
  1. Have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system
  2. score 67 points or more on the stream’s six selection factors
  3. have a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer for full-time skilled work that lasts at least one year after your permanent resident visa is issued.
  4. have 1 year of skilled work experience related to the job in the past 6 years
  5. have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
  6. prove language ability in English or French at CLB 7;
  7. show enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Criteria (Category B) Closed:
  1. be in one of the target occupations as identified in the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry guide. Please see the following list of target occupations, and this list is subject to change.
  2. have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system
  3. score 67 points or more on the stream’s six selection factors
  4. have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in one of our target occupations
  5. have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
  6. prove language ability in English or French at CLB 7
  7. show enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry Criteria:
  1. have at least 1 year of work experience in Nova Scotia in the past three years
  2. be 21 to 55 years old
  3. have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
  4. prove language ability in English or French at CLB 7 for NOC 0, A jobs or CLB5 for NOC B jobs
  5. have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Criteria:
  1. Receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) in their Express Entry profile
  2. Demonstrate that they meet the work experience requirements for their Express Entry class
  3. Show sufficient settlement funds to successfully settle in Nova Scotia alone or with accompanying family members
  4. Have legal status in their country of residence when applying for the stream
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities for Physicians Criteria:
  1. Receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) in their Express Entry profile
  2. Have an approved job offer from the Nova Scotia Health Authority or IWK Health Centre as either a general practitioner and family physician or a specialist physician (NOC 3112 or NOC 3111)
  3. Demonstrate that they meet the work experience requirements for their Express Entry class
  4. Show sufficient settlement funds to successfully settle in Nova Scotia alone or with accompanying family members
  5. Have legal status in their country of residence when applying for the stream
Nova Scotia Occupation in Demand Stream(Three-year pilot introduced in May 2019):

The stream is currently open to eligible candidates with a full-time permanent job offer from a NS employer in the following two occupations:

  • NOC 3413 Nurses aides, orderlies and patient service associates
  • NOC 7511 Transport truck drivers
Nova Scotia Occupation in Demand Stream Criteria:
  1. A full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in the following two occupations (NOC3413 or NOC 7511)
  2. One year of work experience related to the job in the past five years
  3. Be 21 to 55 years old
  4. A high school diploma
  5. Appropriate training, skills and/or accreditation for the job
  6. Minimum CLB 4
  7. Sufficient financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia.
Entrepreneur Criteria:
  1. be 21 years of age or older
  2. want to live permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a Nova Scotia business
  3. have a net worth of at least $600,000 CAD
  4. be able to invest at least $150,000 CAD of your own money to establish a business in Nova Scotia
  5. have at least 3 years’ experience actively managing and owning a business (1/3 ownership minimum) OR more than 5 years’ experience in a senior business management role in the past 10 years
  6. have a score of at least 5 on the CLB
  7. Must have a high school diploma
  8. Have a Business Plan
International Graduate Entrepreneur Criteria:
  1. want to live permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a Nova Scotia business
  2. have at least one year’s continuous experience actively managing and owning your current Nova Scotia business (100% ownership minimum)
  3. have completed a degree or diploma after at least 2 academic years of full-time, in-person study at a university in Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia Community College
  4. Have resided in Nova Scotia full-time during the academic program
  5. Have a valid post-graduation work permit
  6. Own 33.33% of the equity of the eligible business and provide active and ongoing participation in the daily management and direction of the business
  7. Have a score of at least 7 on the CLB
Physician Criteria:
  1. General practitioners, family physicians, and specialist physicians hired by Nova Scotia Health Authority and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre may apply with the employment letter
  2. Provide a copy of an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) or show proof of education and medical training required for licensure in Nova Scotia
  3. The ability to perform the job in one of Canada’s official languages as evidenced by an employment offer from the NSHA or the IWK.
